Qumana is a client based weblog editor with two windows: the Qumana Blog Manager and the Post Editor.

Download the Qumana Version 3 Beta. Simply open the exe file to launch the configuration wizard.

On the Auto Configure Page enter the Skype Journal link: http://www.skypejournal.com/blog/

The next screen will ask for your Login Information; userID and your API password. You can set or look up your API Password by logging in to Skype Journal's Movable Type system via web, then clicking on your name in the upper right corner of any page to see your Author Profile page.

The next screen should effectively confirm that you have selected Skype Journal as the blog that you want to Add to Qumana.

Click on Finish and the Qumana Blog Manager will open up with Skype Journal listed in the Your Blogs sidebar. It will proceed to go out and bring in several previous posts to Skype Journal.

(Note that should you "Back" into the Manual Setup screen the URL for the End Point should read: http://www.skypejournal.com/cgi-bin/mt/mt-xmlrpc.cgi):

You will find the Qumana DropPad on your Windows Desktop. "The DropPad is your funnel into the blogging editor. Any images or text or links you drag & drop into the DropPad will appear in an editing window. So, while you are browsing websites, you can effectively "collect" the information without going between windows or having to cut & paste material."

There is also a System Tray menu item for Qumana with the menu shown at the left.

Two Notes:

  • Categories: According to Qumana, the Moveable Type API for handling Categories is either non-existent or faulty. Once you have Publish(ed your) Post from Qumana, you must go to the Moveable Type Publishing Platform "Entries" page, open the Entry and select Categories in the normal manner (using, of course, the Category selection guidelines on the Author Guide).

  • Images: When you want to enter an image into the post, first Upload the image to Skype Journal's "images" folder in the normal manner via the Moveable Type Publishing Platform. Capture the relevant URL from this process and enter it into the Location field of the Insert Image window. Then click on the "Insert" button (NOT "Upload & Insert").
